This year we were invited for a friend's wedding in Manchester. I did not have much expectations about Manchester, since I was foremost looking forward to the wedding. But we did have time and walked around the city. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised!

For this trip I did not take my usual camera, I had with me a lighter one: mirrorless Canon EOS M100 and a wide angle lens: Canon 22mm f/2.

Do take a walk around the city - it is not huge, so a weekend should be fine. Among other buildings City hall in Manchester looks really impressive:

Do take pictures of something that is really typical for that country or city. For example, a symbol for Manchester is a bee. You can really find bees (as a statue) everywhere! It should symbolize hard work and working together.

... oh ... and ... do look right :D

But my absolute favorite was the John Rylands Library. Definitely a must see in Manchester! It is relatively dark for taking pictures. Make sure you have a good lens (f/2.8 for example), and a camera that can handle high ISO values. Alternative is to have a steady hand or a tripod.

So my recommendation is to visit Manchester if you have the opportunity to do so. You won't be bored :)

Last year I got a chance to travel to Japan. We spent two weeks there and it was incredible. We saw a lot, walked a lot and took way too...
